Who Is Jackson Galaxy and Why We’re Collaborating
Jackson Galaxy is one of the world's premiere cat behaviorists and long time animal welfare advocate. He was the host of the hit reality show My Cat From Hell that ran throughout the 2010s. On the show, he helped cats and their owners work through issues and live more harmoniously.
Jackson Galaxy helps cat parents marry style and function in their homes, which naturally aligns with our own thoughtful approach to design.
Rock ‘n Roll Inspired Cat Toys
Before Jackson Galaxy became The Cat Daddy, he was a former professional rock musician, hence our music-themed collection!
Galaxy usually uses a guitar case for his cat tools, which inspired the The Shredder Kicker. The equipment list also includes a guitar pedal, microphone and headphone duo, and boombox and cassette tape pair.
How Natural Cat Behavior Informs Playtime
The playtime advice that Jackson Galaxy has put out over the years is based on natural cat behavior. It’s all about who your cat was meant to be in the wild. Some of his tips include:
- Hunt/Catch/Kill/Eat Cycle: Make playtime as close to a real hunt and kill for your cat as you can, wrapping sessions with a treat or meal.
- Mimic Prey: Do your best to mimic different types of prey when playing with your cat, like ground and air animals (ex: snakes and birds)
- Let Them Win: Don’t make a toy completely uncatchable for them, doing so can lead to frustration. Let them get the kill!
- Build Routine: Try to play around the same time every day and build a routine for your cat.
